Gallán Mór on the Sheeps Head Peninsula in West Cork has been designed, built and furnished to offer Bed and Breakfast accommodation with style, distinction and warmth.  Our four bedrooms have been individually furnished with a pleasing blend of antique and contemporary furniture.  We also provide a number of facilities especially designed for those on walking holidays. With our small and intimate set-up we can promise our guests a level of comfort and personal service that will ensure that their stay with us is a memorable one.

Our beautiful one acre garden has been created to give our guests the opportunity to enjoy the meandering pathways and secluded seating areas, offering breath-taking sea views over Dunmanus Bay and the Mizen Peninsula.

Gallán Mór is located on the Sheeps Head Peninsula between Durrus and Ahakista on an elevated position over-looking the sea in an area of outstanding beauty. It is an ideal base for walking and exploring West Cork and The Ring of Kerry.  Other outdoor activities, including cycling, horseback riding, fishing and water sports are numerous. The Sheeps Head Way Walk, a 175 km walk has been named by Walking Magazine as one of the best walks in Ireland.

We are a short drive from Bantry where there are plenty of events for you to enjoy such as the West Cork Literary Festival, the Chamber Music festival, plenty of live music, the monthly fair day at Bantry Market with fantastic fresh home grown produce, chickens, goats, ducks and geese for sale too.  Bantry town has a multiplex cinema, shops and boutiques and excellent restaurants.  Closer to home there are fabulous places to eat such as Blairs Cove and Carmel Somers’ Good Things Café which is also a  renowned cookery school.  Arundel’s Bar by the pier in nearby Ahakista has live music, good food and a pub garden overlooking the harbour.  Durrus has four pubs some of which serve food and have live music and The Gateway Café Brasserie serves food all day. The Air India Memorial Garden is a few minutes’ drive from us and very well worth a visit.
